Coral Springs and Parkland students who are trying to move forward in their educational career will need to pass the Florida’s Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT).  On average, over 200,000 students are required to take for FCAT each year.  We asked several tutors to submit tips we could share to help prepare for the FCAT.  The following helpful tips will help every student succeed in this very important exam.  If you haven’t yet begun to prepare for this exam, there are some things to keep in mind – and because the test is measuring achievement, it is never too late to start.  Students with dyslexia or other learning disabilities like ADD/ADHD and students whose first language is not English are faced with more challenges in the standardized reading and math benchmarks.   Club Z! tutors in the Coral Springs and Parkland area have tutored thousands of struggling students and guided them to success on their FCAT exams.

TEST ANXIETY, HOW CAN YOU HELP YOUR STUDENT?

First, let’s understand that every child gets some level of anxiety when it comes to testing.  At times, the challenge for some students can seem overwhelming.  All their preparation, their time spent studying is supplanted by the nervousness that can lead to a feeling of helplessness and mental panic.  Even the most confident of students have to find their own way through the morass of their own anxiety.  Many parents have found searching for Tutors in Coral Springs or Parkland has helped.  Confidence is a learned trait.  Great tutors can teach your child to use the right coping strategies to help him think more clearly and be more confident under pressure.  Every successful effort will add to his confidence level and increase his ability to deal with the pressure.  And this new found confidence will replace the anxiety forever!

Developing study habits and skills in elementary school is considered of primary importance for Coral Springs tutors and Parkland tutors.   They very well know that study skills give all students an edge when they reach higher grade levels.  You might wonder what are these study habits and skills for younger students.

Study habits and skills have many aspects, they include:  reading, writing, note taking, memorization, journal keeping, image visualization, time management, file organization, etc. One of the very important aspects of study habit, aside from reading and writing, is note-taking during class or lecture.  This is because some of the things the teacher says in class cannot be found in his prescribed textbook, and the teacher has knowledge and sources that may be inaccessible to the student.

Recently a Club Z!  tutor in Coral Springs successfully worked to build an educational Support team for one of our students at the parent’s request.   An educational support system is a blended group of caring and skilled people who are available to assist an individual in building and helping to keep his self-esteem and confidence with a focus on education.  The parents were so pleased; I wanted to share some thoughts for other families.  No matter if you have a young student having a difficult time in elementary school, a high school student needing SAT/ACT Test Prep In Coral Springs or a college student in Brandon just a course or two away from completing their degree – an educational support system can be quite beneficial.

Mathematical skills are more than just for SAT/ACT/FCAT Test Prep.  Math is being used in every aspect of a person’s every day life.  I found math easier to understand when I could relate it to everyday life.  Math is used through telling time, cooking food through measurements, looking for a bargain while shopping or counting money when in a store.   Many people from Coral Springs to Wesley Chapel to Anchorage still find it difficult to understand the underlying concepts of the math discipline.  Math is a valuable skill that people find hard to learn but it is a skill that is used countless times everyday!   Ever been in a supermarket or a movie theatre and the clerk did not know how much change to give you?   People start off with Math at a very young age.  Remember matching and naming colors, shapes, and counting numbers?
